weekend craziness!

My brother Joseph, his wife Shannon, and their two kids Emitt and Savanna dropped by this weekend for a fun filled CRAZY two days. On Sat. we went and had lunch at a brazilian grill called Tacanos, it was so good. At the resturant, the kids, instead of eating with forks and spoons used the table tongs for picking up the meat from the servers...So funny, I think they put more food on the ground than actually in their mouths. One thing that i can't get over is how big they both are, every time i think of them i picture a little toddler and his baby sister, but they are so grown up and mature and both talk to jacob and me (well, after two hard days of sweet talking ourselves into their good graces!)We also went to the toy store where Emitt was very quick to tell me all about the different types of dinosoures and transformers but as soon as we walked into a girl section he would quickly exclaim; "oh aunt breanne i'm not allowed in the girl parts!" then he would scamper off to the nearest GI Joe. Later that night Jacob had some of the guys over and had a game night, Joseph and Emitt also took part, Emitt seemed to appriectiate being part of the "Mens" activity. Meanwhile shannon and savanna and i went to the creamry and got big ice cream sundays with chocolate and sprinkles. Church on Sunday was a pleasant surprise, both of the kids were really good and emitt didn't mind going to nursery with Savanna (our ward doesn't have a primary as it is a young married ward!) The rest of the Sabbath felt like anything but the day of rest...with two kids crawling, jumping, wrestling, eating, laughing, screaming, crying, playing and the occasional resting jacob and i realized that our one bedroom apartment is not ready for kids. We did have a blast playing with them though...Jacob was amazing, a whole lot more fun than i was with them, he wrestled and chased and tickled and played with the kids and by the end of the night i think Savanna was quite smitten with him. It was cute. All in all, it was a super fun weekend and jacob and i were very glad that Joseph and the family could take two days out of their busy lives and spend it with us.

don't mess with jacob on the ice

this was so funny and i laughed so hard when it happened. Jacob plays on a non contact hockey league, but sometimes every now and then accidents happen. Jacob had the puck ( RED #22) and he skates up shoots, the puck hits the post and doesn't go in which was sad, but thats not the funny part. As jacob built up speed to shoot hard he made a relatively sharp turn and BAM! skates straight into a kid named Lee on the other team! The kid goes flying across the ice and falls down hard. Jacob's whole team busts out laughing and cheering for Jacob because he is the last person on his team that would run into anybody, it was an accident but i can't deny that i think it was a pretty good hit. The clip is of Jacob scoring the third of 4 goals he made. His team won 6-0, only 4 more games left in the season and we are still undefeated! I'm keeping my figures crossed!

i went paintballing!

On tuesdays jacob plays speed ball with some friends of his down by the provo airport. I tagged along hoping to get a few good pictures. Well, somewhere between our apartment and the field, i lost my mind and in a moment of weakness i decided to play too! OUCH!!!!!!!! Don't get me wrong, it is actually kind of fun when you aren't getting hit. i have come to the conclusion though, that paintballing should be left to the boys. Jacob said that he couldn't have any fun when i was playing with him because he was always scared that i would get hurt. For the most part i did really well. In fact most of my hits are from the people who shot me as i was walking over to see if i had been shot. I had my gun in the air and i yelled "paint check" just like the guys told me to so that no one would shoot me (i guess it is like calling a time out for yourself) and as i walk up to jacob to see if i had actually been hit, a guy shoots me in the leg right behind my knee and then another guy hits me on my cheek (not the cheek on my face, if you catch my drift!) I wanted to cry so bad. However, i was determined not to shed a tear in front of like thirty boys, how embarrassing would that have been. I also got shot on my arm, it felt like a bee sting. I'm glad jacob found another thing to do with his boys but from now on i think the only shooting i'll do is with my camera.

Happy Birthday Jacob

Happy birthday to Jacob! He turned 24 toady and to celebrate we had a paintball party. Jacob is very much a "guys-Guy" he is all about sports and outdoors and building stuff, so this was definately the best way to spend his b-day...friends,family and a whole lot of paint! At first i wanted to surprise him with his paintball party but very quickly realized that i didn't know enough about the game or locations to set up the party by myself so i had some help from a friend. chad was great at helping me choose where to play and what type of gun to get jacob for his birthday present. Jacob of course found out about the party, mainly because he can read melike a kid's book and so even though i tried to make it a surprise he had a lot of say in getting everything ready. Happy Birthday Jacob!!! I also got him some video games, tools, and a movie gift card. After the party i took jacob out for a great lunch at one of our favorite places to eat, Friday's. then at five, ryan and matt came over again for some confetii cake (of course confetii it is jacob's favorite!) and to check out the new game cube games. All in all i think Jacob's birthday was a hit!

homemaker me!

My mom just spent two weeks visiting from Oregon and we had so much fun!! She really was a blast and we're sad that the visit went by so fast. While she was here she taught me how to do borders on blankets and she got me hooked! I finished the bubble one when she was here and i just finished my very first blanket (the yellow one) from start to finish all by myself this morning and i am so proud of myself!I know that it isn't perfect and some of the knots aren't even but i think that the imperfections give it character. I think i am going to give it to my best girl friend emily...she just had her wisdom teeth pulled out so i think she could use some cuddle comfort!!

home made pizza!

Well, i must say that the food network channel sure is pushing and improving my cooking and baking abilities. At first jacob and I only watched Emiril's show but over time it has become one of the channels we watch most along with discovery and Fox. Some of jacob's favorite dishes have been a direct result from watching the food network. Last night i made a beef-n-broccalli pizza with pasta sauce and home made breadsticks. To my lovely and lucky surprise it turned out really good and Jacob ate almost the whole thing in one setting!! It made me smile.

ganster of Provo

I am a geek and always have been, but i have to admit that i love those funny little gangster hats that so many of the celebs are wearing right now. I finally gave into to my fashion lust even though it went against my better judgment i bought one! At first, Jacob thought it was kinda funny but it grew on him and now he lets me wear it wherever and whenever i want to!!! He is so good to me. Sometimes i feel funny because I live in Provo Utah, which isn't really the "club-hollywood-fashion" clothes wearing community; but i admit that i feel pretty darn cool when i wear my hat!

A Day of Beauty

I am so scared of getting my hair cut-mainly because i am so picky about how it looks...after all, my hair is my favorite thing about me! After i got my hair done, i went and got a manicure! It was kind of a "pamper Bree day". Jacob says that since my work has been super stressful the last month and since i was beginning to feel like i looked "haggered" that i could take the day and beautify myself...even though Jacob says that i'm beautiful no matter what!
I have been growing my hair out for a good two years and i was going crazy with the length and dead ends and the friz of it all...i really wanted my hair cut short the way it was while jacob was on his mission. So after about a month of going back and forth, i finally did it! And look at how cute it turned out!

Fun Friends at work

Before anyone begins to wonder...YES, i did get permission to publish these pictures! I feel kinda bad, all of my friends and families blogs all focus on their children and how cute and funny they all are, and mine isn't. But just because i don't have kids yet doesn't mean that i don't get a buddle of laughs, frustrations and kodak moments. These are some of my specail frineds that i get the opportunity to spend time with every day! As most people know i work full time for a company called "Rise". I work with eight adults total who suffer from some sort of mental illness and most also have some type of physical/mental handicap. I am DCP or officially known as a "direct care proffessional" my main responsibilites are recreational therapy and community reassimulation. The people i work with are a handful but they all make me smile in their own ways. I spend most of my time with Tom, he is such a jokester and loves calling the police with some made up emergency or locking me out of his apartment when i try to pick up the mail. He is a polka fan and as he puts it likes to "shake his Tutu" to the music! Elaine is super funny and likes to sing...LOUD, very very loud! She is always telling me that if i tan long enough then i could be beautiful chocolate brown just like her! Dinita, or as i like to call her "D" is a homemaker, she loves to quilt and knit and make dinners and will be the first person to tell you if you put the fork on the wrong side of the plate (i didn't even know that there was a right side!) Together these friends of mine make for a very adventurous household with never a dull moment!!!!

father's day feast

I am so proud of myself! i know that pride cometh before the fall and all of that jazz but really, no joke i made the best Father's Day dinner for Jacob and i am beyond excited! Over the last year i really have been trying to improve and expand my cooking ability and i must admit it hasn't been a cake walk. I really wanted this dinner to be perfect to show Jacob how much i really appreciate and love him. I made a steak and shrimp dinner over rice and cooked asperagus (no idea how to spell that!) It was amazing! I tried cooking the steak with a homemade marinade instead of bbq sauce like i normally do so that the flavor of the cow wouldn't clash with the shrimp and lucky for me it all worked out prefectly. I also made one of jacob's favorite desserts...Carrott Cake! Life is good when dinner is a hit!

Happy Fathers Day!

I admit that i have been blessed beyond what i deserve.

I have a Dad who has been nothing but supportive, protective and loving my enitre life. He has provided for our family and gone above and beyond what i beleive most parents do for their children once they are married. My dad motivates, encourages, listens, and cheers for me in everything that i do. I wish every little girl had a daddy like me. And now that i am all grown up i have a husband who loves, believes, supports, and helps in all that i strive to do. He makes me laugh when i cry and makes me smile when i frown. And even though he isn't a dad yet, i know he will make a great one someday. I wish every woman had a husband like me!

He shoots he scores!

So as you all know during the school year i live at the Seven Peaks ice arena. Jacob plays Monday night drop-in from 10-12 midnight then he has team practice on Tuesdays and his games are on wednesdays...but not during the Summer hip-hip-hurray!This season he only plays once a week and that is game night. Last night his team, the "fighting squab" played against the "free agents" and totally killed them 10-0. Ouch, i almost felt bad for the other team. I think jacob looks so gooood in his hockey pads! This picture is of him right before the game. The boys like hyping up their moral before games by listening to music like Toxic or some other loud angry music. The league is non-contact but that doesn't stop players from checking, pushing, tripping and slashing all night long. I get so mad when ever anyone tries to hit Jacob, i guess it is me being an over-protective wife! In fact last night a kid rammed jacob into the boards and i leaned over the railing and screamed at the top of my lungs "IF YOU TOUCH MY HUSBAND AGAIN I WILL SLAM YOUR PATHETIC EXCUSE OF A HOCKEY PLAYER BUTT ON THE ICE SO HARD THAT NOT EVEN THE ZAMBONI WILL BE ABLE TO GET YOU OFF THE ICE!" not very lady like but hey no one touched him for the rest of the night!
This is just one of the many falls that some of the boys took last night, luckily jacob recovered very well!
This is a little video of jacob scoring last night! His friend is actually the goalie on the other team, so it is really funny when he taunts him after he scores...it makes me laugh!
